Nos amis américains sont friands de statistiques et notamment fiers de la longévité de leurs chevaux et cavaliers. L'AERC tient à jour les compteurs et voici ce que cela donne. Intéressant, non?

COMMUNIQUE F.E.I.
Dear Sir/Madam,
We have received two independent approaches from National Federations wishing us to confirm whether a 160 km rideheld over two days meets the qualification criteria for Senior Championships and other 4* rides as published in the Rules for Endurance Riding following the Paris Forum and Endurance Committee meeting held in February 2003.
The question has been raised with the members of the Endurance Committee and has been considered at length by the secretariat. Here at the FEI we have considered the situation and taken advice on whether, under the existing criteria, a successful completion of a 2 day 160 km ride would meet the required minimum qualification for a 1 day 160 km Championship.
The conclusion reached is that a successful completion of such a ride, 160 km - held over two days, fully meets the criteria as de The reasons being:
· There is no mention of a time frame within the published qualification criteria
· A two day ride is still only one competition or event which has the total distance as 160 km
· Overnight, in a 2 day competition, the horse and rider remain fully under the rules and regulations i.e.
remain within the ongoing competition
· The overnight ‘hold’ is no different to a ‘hold’ during the day in a 1 day competition or a 2 day competition,
further no maximum hold time is defined within the rules.
· At the end of day 1 in a 2 day ride, there are no awards or placings as the competition is still ongoing.
· There are no words within the general Endurance rules that restrict the maximum time made available for competitors to complete the 160 km and it is standard practice to have widely differing times in different countries.
For the sake of good order we now detail the published qualification criteria for reference purposes:
3. Qualification Procedure
3.1. To be qualified to participate in any Senior Championship or any other CEI**** ride, a rider/horse as a combination
has to have completed a CEI *** (or above) ride over the same distance as the championship/CEI**** ride within 24
months prior to the closing date for nominated entry.
3.2. If the rider/horse has not qualified as a combination per 3.1 above, to be qualified to participate in any Senior
Championship or any other CEI****, a horse has to have completed a CEI*** ride over the same distance as the
championsh
ip/CEI**** ride within 24 months prior to the closing date for nominated entry and the rider has to havecompleted 3 endurances rides (at least one of them a CEI*** or above ride) over the same distance as the
Championship/CEI**** ride within the current or preceding 3 years before the event.
Please advise your Endurance personnel so this can be made known as quickly and as widely as possible. There is no
need to acknowledge receipt of this email.
If there are no endurance riders within your Federation we would ask you to ignore this email.
Kind Regards"
Ian Williams
